Information
The following is a general
description of how elections are run in the NALRC according to our constitution
and by-laws.
What are the elected offices?
The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and nine (9) Directors shall be
elected by the general membership. The President, Treasurer and (5) five Directors (for Districts 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) shall be
elected on even years. The Vice President, Secretary, and (4) Directors (for Districts 2, 4,
6 & 8) shall be elected in odd years.
Who may run?
All officers must
have been members of both the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) and the
North American Lionhead Rabbit Club (NALRC) for two (2) consecutive years prior to
taking office.
What are the deadlines for applying?
Candidates for office must notify the Secretary of their intentions to
run for office, postmarked no later than May 15th of the election year.
How is someone chosen?
The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and nine (9) Directors
shall be elected by the general membership. The membership within each designated District shall elect (1) Director who lives in that
district to serve on the Board. If there is no one willing to serve as Director from any
specific district(s) then the President Elect shall appoint any directors needed to fill these
vacancies with the approval of the Board.
How long do they hold office?
All terms of office shall be 2 years and shall begin immediately following the close of
the ARBA Convention.
When are the new members put into office?
Newly elected officers are put in place at the yearly ARBA convention
